Your local guide will meet you at your preferred location within the Rethymno town. Your private daytrip will start by heading towards the hinterlant of Rethymno. We shall first visit the famous Arkadi Monastery - known for its stunning natural beauty, important history, and many legends that have been passed down through time. Its valuable treasures and historic artifacts tell the story of this remarkable place. For the past eight centuries, it has been a central part of Cretan history, marked by tales of bravery and resilience. Your local guide will share its fascinating past and help you take in the peaceful and beautiful surroundings of the monastery.

Next, we will head to Margarites, a delightful village famous for its pottery traditions that have been passed down for centuries. Nestled on a scenic green hill in the Rethymno region, this village is a hub of craftsmanship. Here, Mrs. Eleni, the owner of a family-run pottery workshop, will share the history and techniques of this ancient art, why not try yourselves the art of ceramics.

We shall also stroll on the lovely narrow winding streets of the village, which has some extraordinary architecture, lovely byzantine churches worth exploring and many ceramic workshops. On its central square we shall enjoy a Greek coffee with great views over the local countryside.

After exploring the village, we will enjoy a delicious lunch featuring authentic Cretan cuisine, prepared with fresh, local ingredients. Set in a peaceful and picturesque location, this dining experience perfectly reflects the island’s warmth and charm. Relish the traditional flavors while soaking in the serene atmosphere of the Cretan countryside and enjoy the real Cretan hospitality of the locals.
