Meet your food loving local guide in front of the BOUGATSA CHANION which is located in the city center. Your guide will be holding an ‘’Alma de Creta’’ sign.

This will be our first stop, one of the best bougatsa places in the city! Bougatsa is a delicious pastry that is made with phyllo dough and filled with a creamy custard. IYou'll be able to watch the skilled pastry chefs at work as they make the bougatsa fresh right in front of your eyes.

Next, we'll take you to a place where you can try kaltsounia, a savory pastry that is similar to a mini-pie. Kaltsounia are filled with a variety of ingredients, such as cheese, herbs, and vegetables, and they're a popular snack food in Chania. We'll show you how to pick the best ones and even teach you a little bit about the local ingredients that are used to make them.

During the tastings, you will gain insight into Crete’s fascinating food culture, the evolution of the island’s cuisine, the healthy nature of locally produced ingredients and find out about all the secret eateries of the Old town of Chania.
While we navigate along the little alleys of the Old town we will visit a shop that sells local herbs and get informed on their medicinal effects as well as how they are being used in the local cuisine. You'll learn about the different flavors and health benefits of herbs such as oregano, thyme, and sage.

Our next destination is a traditional cafenion, where locals gather to savor the simple pleasures. You will be treated to a tasting of Greek coffee and a selection of local sweets, lovingly crafted according to age-old recipes passed down through generations. From delicate pastries filled with fragrant nuts and honey to syrup-soaked baklava glistening with golden syrup, each bite will be a symphony of flavors, textures, and aromas.

Our next stop takes us to a bustling green grocer, where the bounty of Crete's fertile lands awaits. Here, amidst crates overflowing with colorful fruits and vegetables, we'll sample a selection of local delicacies that showcase the island's rich agricultural heritage. From goat cheeses aged to perfection to olives bursting with flavor and rusks (paximadia) , an essential element in Crete’s gastronomy.

The last stop on the tour is for you to try the best souvlaki in town on a popular local eatery.
