Meet your  guide in front of the Chania municipal market which is located in the city center. Your guide will be standing outside the main south entrance holding an ‘’Alma de Creta’’ sign.
Start this inspiring tour by walking through the Old town while your guide introduces you to Chania’s turbulent history. Find out the history of the Jews in Crete and how the Jewish community developed through the Roman, Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman Turkish dominations.
When you reach the Jewish quarter you will have a very good understanding of the multi cultural character of Chania. Visit the synagogue Etz-Hayyim, the only surviving Jewish monument and find out about its history, architecture, renovation, the mikveh, the tombs and the treasures.
Get acquainted with the Romaniotes and Sephardy identities, their heritage and lifestyles, and find out about the Shoah period.
